Finn Jones Central

Quibi’s present-day update of Hollywood satire Swimming With Sharks is filling out its cast.

Thomas Dekker, Finn Jones and Donald Sutherland will star with Kiernan Shipka and Diane Kruger in the series at the short-form streaming platform. The series is based on George Huang’s cult 1994 movie about a Hollywood assistant (Frank Whaley) who turns the tables on his abusive boss (Kevin Spacey).

In the new version, penned by writer and actress Kathleen Robertson (Little Bee; Beverly Hills, 90210), a young woman named Lou (Shipka) goes to work for studio head Joyce (Kruger). In a company filled with manipulators, schemers and intrigue, no one knows Lou is poised to outwit them all.

Iron Fist and Game of Thrones alum Jones plays Marty, Joyce’s vp production, who’s also a victim of chronic verbal abuse. Marty is immediately taken by Lou and gets her a job as one of Joyce’s interns. Jones, who just wrapped season two of Dickinson for Apple, is repped by CAA, Atlas Artists, Curtis Brown Group and Felker Toczek.

After receiving the greenlight earlier November, production on the second season of Dickinson has begun, with showrunner/creator Alena Smith taking to Twitter to announce the news with a photo of the cast assembled, including new addition Finn Jones (Iron Fist).

COLLIDER – Filming on Season 2 of the Apple TV+ series Dickinson, which stars Hailee Steinfeld as a young Emily Dickinson, has been underway for a while now with details being kept mostly under wraps. But today is a “mark your calendars,” momentuous kind of day because we learned something new: Iron Fist alum Finn Jones is joining the Dickinson gang.

That’s right: Jones is moving on from the Netflix/Marvel TV series (which shuttered in 2018) and has boarded Dickinson. He was included in a cast photo taken by Dickinson showrunner Alena Smith and posted to her Twitter account on Wednesday. The photo also included series leads Steinfeld, Ella HuntAnna Baryshnikov, and Adrian Enscoe. If you look closely, you’ll see Jones off to the right side of the photo, casually hanging out next to Steinfeld. As far as I can tell, this is the first time we’ve seen Jones associated with Dickinson in any way. As such, it’s tough to tell what character he’ll be playing and how that character will figure into Season 2.

Dickinson was one of five Apple TV+ shows to score an early Season 2 renewal ahead of the Season 1 premiere. The first season of Dickinson introduced us to a fictional and fun take on Dickinson’s young adult years as she navigated familial expectations to settle down and become someone’s wife with her own passionate ambitions to become a published poet. Season 1 ended with Emily choosing to commit herself to her writing while she watched her best friend (and occasional hook-up buddy), Sue (Hunt), marry her older brother Austin (Enscoe), leaving a particularly large hole in Emily’s life.

From here, anything is possible and that’s what makes the addition of Jones so exciting. Will he be a new love interest for Emily or Lavinia (Baryshnikov), Emily’s younger sister who’s no stranger to scooping up a new beau wherever she turns? Is he a friend of Austin’s, entering the picture and shaking things up? Will he play some famous 19th century figure, just as John Mulaney played Henry David Thoreau and Zosia Mamet played Louisa May Alcott in Season 1? I need answers ASAP!

Dickinson Season 1 is available to watch only on Apple TV+.

Jennifer Jason Leigh, Barry Pepper and “Game of Thrones” actor Finn Jones will join Gina Rodriguez in Netflix’s sci-fi thriller “Awake.”

VARIETY – The newly announced cast also includes Ariana Greenblatt, Frances Fisher, Shamier Anderson, Lucius Hoyos and Gil Bellows.

“Awake” is set after a sudden global event wipes out all electronics and takes away humankind’s ability to sleep, and chaos quickly begins to consume the world. Rodriguez’s character may hold the key to a cure in the form of her own daughter while she faces the prospect of saving the world before she herself loses her mind.

“Kodachrome” helmer Mark Raso is attached to direct from a script he co-wrote with his brother Joseph Raso, as well as Greg Poirier. Entertainment One and Paul Schiff are producing the film. Rodriguez and the Raso brothers are executive producing with Mark Gordon, Josh Phillips, Matt Jackson, Poirier and Whitney Brown. Joanne Lee is a co-executive producing.

Production is currently underway in Canada.

I’ve added a bunch of missing promotional, stills and behind the scenes photos of Finn from season 1 of ‘The Defenders’ & season 1 and 2 of ‘Iron Fist’. Enjoy the photos.

Finn Jones has been cast in the lead role of the Fox pilot “Prodigal Son,” Variety has confirmed.

The one-hour series centers on Malcolm Bright (Jones), an acclaimed criminal psychologist. He knows how killers think, how their minds work. Why? His father (Michael Sheen) was one of the worst — a notorious serial killer called “The Surgeon.” He will use his twisted genius to help the NYPD solve crimes and stop killers, all while dealing with a manipulative mother, annoyingly normal sister, a homicidal father still looking to bond with his prodigal son, and his own constantly evolving neuroses.

In addition to Jones and Sheen, the pilot will also star Bellamy Young, Lou Diamond Phillips, Aurora Perrineau, and Frank Harts.

“Prodigal Son” hails from writers and executive producers Chris Fedak and Sam Sklaver. Fedak most recently created the FBI magician drama “Deception” for ABC, on which Sklaver was a writer and consulting producer. Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schecter will executive produce via Berlanti Productions. Lee Toland Krieger will direct the pilot and executive produce. The pilot will be a co-production between Warner Bros. Television and Fox Entertainment.

Deadline first reported this casting.
